All variants of the Thin Blue Line Flag are made with a variety of ratios, the most frequent ones being 2:3 and 3:5. The blue stripe width varies and may be somewhere between 1/5 and 1/6 of the flag width. The flag is sometimes hoisted vertically, as shown here: Yes, they have become political, as flags often do. Resulting in a confusing collection of similar flags and a host of variants. Since the original "Thin Blue Line" flag'sĪppearance, apparently all emergency services are getting on the bandwagon A variant with the text "Police Lives Matter" was used in 2015 atĪ rally in Baltimore, Ohio. Versions with much thinner blue or red stripes, combined stripes, etc. Variant with a red stripe instead of a blue one for fire fighters. The three equal horizontal striped flag you are referring to is the original The current use is more of support for law enforcement. One story I heard was that in the event of a traffic stop, it let the approaching officer know that the person in the vehicle was a cop and might have aįirearm. The "thin blue line" of protection against evil. In its earliest form, it was used to identify police officers, as mentioned above. It is usually only worn when an officer dies, and is worn for up to a week after death, not everyday use. The identification of fallen officers uses a badge with black tape or a black elastic band around the center. Represents the "thin blue line, or brother police officer. This design is an identification to notify other law enforcement people that the bearer also works in law enforcement. I have seen it in use more frequently now as a bumper sticker, I believe this is probably a show of respect for the police officers killed on September 11th. It is typically worn as a band across the badge when an officer is killed in the line of duty. The black-medium blue-black flag is actually a police mourning band. There is also a similar one with a red strip for firemen. The Black-Blue-Black design is usually seen on a policeman's personal car or family members car. Lately I've noticed a black - medium blue - black, arranged horizontally auto tag on many vehicles in the area around Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

But, other AI models like clean and RAW does a better job for many of these images. So, when I import the RAW files to Denoise AI, the autosuggest feature tells me to go with the Low light or the Severe Noise model for most of my images. It took around 4 minutes and 17 seconds to save the processed picture. The processed image will be saved in the DNG format. The output from thee clear AI model is better for this night image. So, I decided to go with either of these two. The RAW and the clear model outputs were looking better. But, when I compared the outputs, the image was a bit soft in the severe noise model. The Autosuggest feature suggested going with the Severe Noise model. When you take the RAW image directly into this software, it will take more time to generate the output previews because of the large file size. I will import one of my RAW images (.CR2 Canon RAW file) into this software and see how good it is at removing noise. You can also import RAW images directly into the Topaz Denoise AI software for removing image noise. You can see the Before/ After image above. So, I have decided to go with the Standard output. But the noise is slightly more on the clear one. Anyway, I will check with all the AI models to double-confirm this decision.īoth Standard and Clear AI model previews do look good. When I toggled the AI model button, it suggested using the Standard AI model for this image. So, we will test a noisy JPEG image on Topaz Denoise AI software. Many record JPEG images, especially when using your smartphone or point-and-shoot cameras. If the image is too soft after noise removal, you can increase the sharpness here. It helps to make precise adjustments for the sharpness and noise of the image. QUICK TIP: When you preview the results, always go for a 200 % Image Zoom, it will help you to see the effect of the various denoiser AI models. If you want to do any further adjustments, you can always do it manually with the help of the slider given on the right-side panel. You just need to click on one that you find best for your image. The AI suggest feature will not work when you use this preview option. You can see the difference between each of the models for that particular image. I prefer this preview window for selecting the appropriate AI model for each image. If you click on the 4 by 4 preview one, you will see the effect of 4 different AI models on the same image. There are four types of Before/ After Topaz Denoise AI previews in the top menu. If you switch it ON, the software will automatically select the AI model based on the image. You can see a toggle button on the AI Model. RAW: To Remove Noise from an Unprocessed Image in RAW, JPEG, or TIFF format. Severe Noise: For Extreme Noise removal.ĥ. WhatsApp comes with the strong protection as all sending messages are end–end encrypted and so you might have a peace of mind that your files are protected. It enables its users to send free messaging, texts as well as photos and videos to their contacts from anywhere around the world. The biggest advantage of WhatsApp is that it is available for both iOS and Android platforms. But, WhatsApp was simply an amazing app that has done some remarkable changes at those crucial times. So, other developers were difficult to find the best app and also convince people for using the new app. As per some believable reports, WhatsApp was introduced at the same time when Skype was all in rages. This is one of the most popular messaging apps when it comes to be an instant messaging app all throughout the world. WhatsApp messaging app was introduced and came for functioning in the year of 2009. After collecting some useful information from those reviews you choose the best messaging app that suits you as well as start to chat with your family or friends and even recommend them to use the same if it is best of its kind. Currently, there are many freelance jobs online that offer the writers of the profession to work on the pros, cons, and major features of messaging apps that are easily available and can be downloaded via some app stores. Instead of forcing your family or friends, you can download all three messaging apps to look in which one app wind-up to the best at the end. WhatsApp, Line, and WeChat are some of the most popular message apps. In addition to this, what will you do if you wish to talk to someone who has moved to another country or on vacation? Simply, it’s easily possible to do so when you have a ‘messaging app’, which is typically free to use and download that provides a better platform to communicate in a real time manner.Īpp stores can display you with many different messaging apps that appear to be the same, but, if you keenly notice, then you could observe that all apps are significantly having some slight differences of their own. In such case, many people do not know to have unlimited texting plans. You can create group to text about making plan or filling your circle of family or friends with their recent news, thereby, simply a message app is a better way for many reasons. If you’re textaholic, then you must simply download a messaging app. However, yet they mostly prefer to communicate with others via text. People of current generation are always busy with their mobile phones talking to their family, friends or even followers and the rest of the world. The redline is down 500 rpm from before to 6500, and torque is much enhanced. It cuts nearly half a second off the 0-to-60 time of the previous-generation ES model-down to 8.4 seconds with the five-speed now-and top-gear acceleration improves even more. The ES engine is a newly derived version of the 2.0-liter four that's standard in the larger 626 sedan.Īfter driving the small-engine models, the ES feels like a muscle car. Both are twin-cam, 16-valve fours but are based on fundamentally different designs. The top-of-the-line Protegé, the ES, comes with a larger engine than the lower-level DX and LX models: 1840 cc and 122 horsepower for the ES 1598 cc and 105 horsepower for the others (those sold in states adhering to California LEV standards have two less horsepower). Trunk space has shrunk, too, by 0.2 cubic foot, but the new shape is so uncontorted-it's a big box!-and the lift-over is so low, that we think it's more useful than ever. Yet the total weight of the car is down 16 pounds on our scale, due to clever engineering in the bolt-ons.Īs is typical when crash improvements are made, interior dimensions are fractionally smaller in almost every case, but it doesn't hurt the capacity and comfort of this car in any noticeable way. It has more steel, which works to provide the silence just mentioned, and crash protection. Mazda says the new body is about 50 pounds heavier than the old one. Kneeroom seems unexpectedly generous back there, too, as is the door-opening space for entry and exit. The inner track is mounted on the side of the tunnel, and the outer one attaches to the side of the sill, leaving a remarkably wide floor space for rear-passenger feet. Mazda did a clever thing with the front-seat tracks. The driver's seat slides rearward too far for six-footers, and they have ample headroom even with the sunroof. It seems to have all its room in useful places. The Protegé is one of the rare cars that didn't rub us wrong in any way. You can forget for a while, but then you notice, and it's annoying again. The longer you drive, the more irritating it gets. In most cars, larger ones, too, something about the console, or the underdash, or the door, rubs on your knee, or your shin, exactly on the part where there's hardly any meat to pad the bone. But our relatively normal-size drivers report something unexpected, maybe even unprecedented-the Protegé doesn't hurt them anywhere. Anatomies vary, and we can't foresee the complaints of every human settling into the driving position of a small car. The Protegé does something else exceptionally well, something perhaps even more valuable: It fits the driver like a custom suit. The grille has an in-your-face chrome accent, too, a rich touch you'd expect on a Lincoln Continental or a Mercedes, but which seems utterly extravagant on a budgeteer. The rather formal profile of this four-door-only body is softened by a smoothly arched roofline and then given character with big taillights and boldly sculptured wheel-opening flares. Rather, it did the hard thing in creating an econobox that actually looks classy. That's a perishable condition (though you wouldn't know it from the Neon's still-spunky shape), and now it's a crowded corner of the market populated by the roly-poly New Beetle. Now Mazda has an all-new Protegé-new body, new engines, new automatic gearbox-and this one has a shot at celebrity. And we've always liked the Protegé because, well, it just seemed to get all the basics right. The Neon remains a cutie and a lusty performer besides. Still, a few econoboxes manage to stand out from the blur. They shop price and they keep shopping across brands until something fits the budget. Price, quality, and dependability are the important issues for Protegé buyers, Mazda says. The only shoppers who care about this class now walk straight to the price sticker. And in these cheap-gas days, big numbers on the EPA mileage label no longer draw a crowd (remember when they did?). Nobody dreams of winning the Powerball lottery so they can show off a Chevy Cavalier in their driveway, or a Ford Escort or a Nissan Sentra. There's a certain who-cares anonymity to the cars in this econobox class. From the November 1998 issue of Car and Driver. “Ultimate Beastmaster” Darren Michaels / Netflixįor as much athleticism is on display in the various stages of the course itself, the real thing that separates this and makes it more than a supercut of raw feats of strength, are those moments when the competitor and announcing teams get a chance to interact each other in real time. Along with China’s Bin Gu and Du Qin Yi, they’re the announcers that pay the least mind to the physical barriers in between each of the five hosting booths. They strike just the right amount of playful rivalry with other countries, notably France. So no discussion of “Ultimate Beastmaster” would be complete without the true stars of the show: Francesco Facchinetti and Bianca Balti, the impossibly energetic and enduringly fun Italian duo. In addition to the teams from each nation, the six countries also have their dedicated announcer pairs, who are given leeway to cheer on their fellow citizens with minimal editorial oversight. The distinct international appeal of this iteration of the show is bolstered by an equal number of representatives from Italy, France, China, India, Spain, and the US. Read More: ‘Last Chance U’ Review: Netflix Series Proves That Football and TV Are Still a Perfect Matchīut there are certainly elements of “Ultimate Beastmaster” that are more than just an attempt to booby-trap fitness icons. Bodysuit-clad superclimbers attack a mammoth obstacle course that requires dexterity, agility, core strength, and an uncanny ability to swing across giant chain ropes and awkwardly shaped handholds. Following in the well-established vein of other televised obstacle course spectacles, it’s similar enough to “American Ninja Warrior” (even using the same director, Patrick McManus) that anyone stumbling across it on Netflix would be forgiven if they thought that this might be the same show that’s been a staple of basic-cable reruns for the past few years. In Season 2 of the Netflix series “ Ultimate Beastmaster,” one of those feats is leaping between giant treadmills suspended ten feet in the air.In that way, “Ultimate Beastmaster” is crafted as unabashed TV comfort food. Other times, it’s running so fast that you can pose for a picture while beating all of your peers. Sometimes it’s throwing a baseball at speeds that would get you booked for reckless driving. One of the thrills of watching sports, either in person or on TV, is recognizing that everyone taking part is capable of things that you fundamentally are not. See whether an item is downloaded or not from list view.Skip automatic downloading upon startup to save bandwidth and the battery.Mark news items as unread after looking at them.List items in folders and individual feeds.Phantom Fish got the big things right, but there are tons of little things that need improvement if the company wants to stick to this price point. However, the download capability and the very clean, minimalist user interface design (see the website, which has a nice video) make Byline almost worth the price of admission. In that regard, $10 is a fairly hefty price. This is probably not a reasonable expectation, but somehow, I expect applications for a small device to carry a small price tag. Byline will even download new pages in the background while you're perusing ones downloaded previously-this will give your battery a workout it won't soon forget, though. Displaying previously-downloaded pages takes between one and five seconds, depending on the page's complexity and the mood the iPhone happens to be in.īeing able to predownload pages in RSS feeds and then quickly display them locally is a truly great feature: there are still many places where connectivity can't be had, and it's always much faster than waiting for the same page to load "live" from the network. The arrows allow for quick navigation without having to go back to the list of starred items. This is, of course, synced with Google Reader as soon as Byline can connect to Google. Tapping the star unstars/restars the item. The page looks exactly like it would in Safari, except that there is no tool bar at the bottom and the URL bar is replaced by something very different: a bar with a star and previous/next arrows. Tapping on the item in the list immediately loads the original web page-however, not in Safari, but in Byline itself. However, things are different for the "starred" category. Despite the fact that the interface looks much cleaner than Google Reader's, I was not impressed. That's pretty much what Google Reader does. You can then select the title of the article, and Byline starts Safari, which will proceed to load the original article. That's also the information that you see when you select the item in the list. For the feeds (under the heading "new") Byline just downloads the information that's in the feeds themselves. There is no way to look through individual feeds or folders, like in Google Reader. It then downloaded the 25 most recent items in my feeds and in my starred items. After starting up for the first time, Byline wanted to know my e-mail address and password so it could log on to my Google account. Within a minute, I had the application downloaded and synced to my brand new iPhone 3G. Let's have a look.Īpple has carefully designed the application-buying process (before it, the music- and video-buying processes) such that you hardly notice you're spending money. I was intrigued: considering the free competition, this application had to be either really good or really bad. It's an RSS reader for the iPhone and iPod touch which hooks into Google Reader and has the ability to store pages locally (on the iPhone) for offline reading. Nice try, Google, but it just doesn't work for me. After closing that page and returning to Google Reader, the reader often reloads. The sites open in a separate page in Safari. Loading full-size web pages-ads and all-on the iPhone is dog slow. This version works extremely well for perusing feeds and marking posts as read or star them for later reading, but actually reading articles through Google Reader mobile is quite painful. Google also has an iPhone-optimized version of its RSS aggregator. I'm not generally a fan of cloud computing, but in this case it makes sense: you don't need to have the feeds locally if you can't go online and visit the linked articles anyway. So, a couple of months ago, I switched to Google Reader. Years ago when good old Safari turned into Safari RSS, I eased into the habit of finding stuff on the web through RSS feeds rather than by visiting the front page of sites "manually." Unfortunately, Safari's RSS implementation is very slow, especially with some "enhanced" feeds. Overall, the set was garage rock perfection. Another standout track of the night was the title track off the new album which screamed a mental health pep talk in an incredible way. Can you handle it,” before moving into “Real Long Time”. Set list wise, the band’s latest album that only dropped October 18th, “You Deserve Love”, was a huge focus of the set for clear reasons and to be perfectly honest, the crowds reactions for those newer songs were some of the biggest ones of the night. To frontman Tony Esposito dedicating a song to longtime supporter Clyde, “Where’s Clyde? You’re not here. It included the drummer throwing up two fingers to indicate there were only two more songs left without even saying it. Interaction with the audience was still there, just in the purest of ways. These short power packed headline sets are becoming something much more common these days. The crowd was wrapped around the band’s finger as they rocked their way through pretty much non stop music for a compact 65 minutes including the encore.Īnd let me tell you, I was living for it. The first time I saw White Reaper was when they played as main support to UK’s The Struts on a nuts sold out show about a year ago at Paradise Rock Club. It’s crazy how the venue you see a band in can alter your perception of what you a see a band as. As the band dove into, “What’s the Deal”, another big moment for the crowd, vocalist Patton made the crowd go wild simply by saying, “It feels really good to be here right now.” They were the perfect opener to set the stage for what was to come from White Reaper. Which was super grooves driven, really vibey. The momentum really hit full momentum with the third track of the set, “Steve”. Opening it up with the banger, “Feels Right”, the crowd started roaring as the band can out kicking. With some serious seventies psych rock, the crowd seemed pleasantly surprised. The aforementioned Wombo won over the crowd with both an ethereal set, vibes that had me thinking of The Joy Formidable, as well as a beautifully translates cover of Talking Heads’ “Pyscho Killer”.Īs Wombo jumped off stage, New York transplants via North Carolina’s The Nude Party had the crowd roaring almost instantly. It’s the first time in a long time that I’ve seen local band guys local bookers are paying guests at a show that wasn’t a local show. As well as the Sinclair team being so great, it’s clear that White Reaper is a “band’s band”. With the frontman of The Nude Party visibly in awe and delight at it, with huge she’s at his merch girl. Something super special too later in the night was seeing several staffers from The Sinclair approaching the merch table pulling out cash to buy bands merch. They were super respectful of allowing the band members their space when walking through the lobby, buying drinks at the bar. The crowd was here for a real rock and roll show. As I saw the room fill up, everyone was tuned into the openers Wombo, who were providing an ethereal warm-up to what was to come. Thanks for supporting small independent businesses like ours, we really appreciate it.On a cold Saturday night and after a serious Rocktober, The Sinclair’s vibe for a White Reaper headline show was one that I want for every hardworking band. The message involves those verbal and nonverbal behaviors, enacted by communicators, that are interpreted with meaning by others. Thus, communication is always a transactional process – a give and take of messages. If audience members are bored, disagree, or are confused by our message, they may be texting or looking away from us, shake their heads, have unhappy or confused expressions on their faces, or present oppositional vocal cues (like groans, “I don’t think so,” “That doesn’t make sense,” or “You’re crazy!”). If audience members are interested, agree, and understand us, they may lean forward in their seats, nod their heads, have positive or neutral facial expressions, and provide favorable vocal cues (such as laughter, “That’s right,” “Uh huh,” or “Amen!”). Even in a public speaking situation, we watch and listen to audience members’ responses. This means that communication is not a one-way process. Over the telephone, we listen to paralinguistic cues, such as pitch, tone, volume and fillers (i.e., “um,” “uh,” “er,” “like,” and so on). The information we gain from these observations is known as feedback. When we speak, we observe others’ nonverbal behavior to see if they understand us and we gauge their emotional state. It is used instead of sender and receiver, because when we are communicating with other people we are not only sending a message, we are receiving messages from others simultaneously. The term communicator refers to all of the people in the interaction or speech setting.
